Why Is My Car Leaking Water?

car leak

Is your car leaking water, and you’re not sure why? There are several reasons why you might find water leaking from under a car, most of them not serious. It’s important to schedule an appointmentat your local New Albany service center if the issue persists as that may indicate a more serious problem. Learn why your car is leaking water below.

  • Condensation from your vehicle’s air conditioner
  • Exhaust condensation near the tailpipe that evaporates once the engine warms up.
  • Leaking fluids (more serious)

Our service team in Louisville can diagnose and fix the problem.

Identifying the Cause of Leaking Water

Is water leaking under the car? Follow the steps below:

  • Put a sheet of paper under the leak; if it’s not clear then it’s probably coolant, not water.
  • If you notice more than a small amount of water then you might have blown a gasket causing coolant to burn with the fuel. You’ll notice white smoke coming out of the exhaust pipe.
  • Elizabethtown drivers shouldn’t have an issue spotting coolant due to its color. If you’re not sure your car’s coolant is the problem, check it, and if it’s low, bring it to a certified Toyota service center.
  • The leak is possibly due to a crack in the windshield wiper fluid reservoir, expanding, causing the container to crack. You’ll know that’s the issue if the leak is light blue or green and found near the front tires. The leak may be coming from a cracked windshield wiper fluid reservoir.
